MetaFrame XP Presentation Server 4.0

Citrix has released Presentation server 4.0 and it is now available for download on the My Citrix Website.

Installing the "PS4" on top of XPe Feature Release 3 went very smooth and seamless for me. The install was packaged nicely and included the Microsoft prerequisites built-in.

Report Logging is turned off by default with Access Suite licensing 4.0. This document describes how to turn on Report Logging.

Upgrading to Presentation Server 4.0

Introduction: There are many approaches for upgrading to Prentation Server 4.0, listed below is the methodology we followed.

1. Migrate all client PCs to PN Agent pointing to a single dns entry which points to 3 Web Interface servers load balanced across a Cisco hardware load balancer.

2. We built a separate PS40 Farm. Now all PN Agent clients can see both application sets.

3. Migrate server by server or by application silo at a time, from FR3 to PS40, by deploying a new image of the base OS (2003 Server with TS) and then manually (scripted install) install of PS40.

The New Report Center

One of the most anticipated new features in Presentation Server 4.0 for me is the Report Center. Which currently comes with 15 canned reports that can be copied, customized and scheduled. Each can be modified to your particular liking.
