Duplex Printing in Citrix Presentation Server 4.0

First I would like to say that duplex printing does work with PS40, but not with the new Universal Printer.

We are upgrading to PS40 this weekend, and have noticed there is a difference in duplex printing between FR3 and PS40.

We found that only certain drivers will work with certain printers.

For instance.

In FR3 the HP Laserjet 4 Plus driver will duplex to an HP Laserjet 4200 , but in PS40 it does not duplex. Using the HP Laserjet 4000 PCL native driver does print duplex in PS40.

The application we use to print duplex does not present the Windows Dialog box before printing, it just sends the print job to the sessions default printer. So the Advanced Printer properties must be inherited from the client PC printer.

For other printer models on PS40, such as the HP Laserjet 8150 we used the HP Laserjet 5si mopier driver to print duplex. and the HP Laserjet 4si for the HP Laserjet 4100 printer.

Summary: The behavior above was observed by taking one Citrix application server that was printing duplex just fine using the HP Laserjet 4M Plus driver and changing Farms to a PS40 Farm then upgrading it to PS40 and attempting to print duplex, it did not print duplex until we changed the client PC printer drivers to match the above. Then it duplexed just fine for our Application.
